MALLOY, James R. “Sarge” – Of Burton, age 82, died Thursday, March 6, 2014 at Genesys Regional Medical Center.
Funeral service will be held 2pm, Monday, March 10, 2014 at
Swartz Funeral Home, 1225 West Hill Road, Flint,
Pastor Sarah LaRose-Nettell officiating.
Entombment at Crestwood Cemetery.
Those desiring may make contributions to the American Cancer Society.
Visitation 1-8pm Sunday at the funeral home.
James was born in Sheffield, PA on June 13, 1931, the son of Ambrose and Columbia Malloy, and was a resident of the Flint area since the 1970's. He served in the U.S. Air Force for 21 years and retired as a Master Sergeant in 1971. Mr. Malloy was employed by General Motors Truck and Bus for 20 years, retiring in 1993. He was a member of UAW Local 598.
Surviving are his three children, Connie and husband Mike Haugh of California, Theresa Malloy of Vermont and Keith (Marge) Malloy of Florida;
four step-children, Randy Bennett of New York,
Donna and husband Jack Stheiner of Lapeer,
John Bennett of Texas,
Sheila and husband Todd Wilson of Burton;
15 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren;
sister, Deloris Rape of Pennsylvania;
many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Norma, in 1996; his parents; three sisters, Annie Malloy, Wynona Landis and Theresa Patronzi; three brothers, Johnny, Ambrose, Jr. and Clarence Malloy.
