SALIM (FARIS), Mary - Of Swartz Creek, age 97, died Tuesday, August 28, 2018 with her family by her side.
Funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, September 1, 2018 at St. George Orthodox Church, 5191 Lennon Road in Flint,
The Very Reverend Father Joseph M. Abud officiating.
Burial in Evergreen Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to St. George Orthodox Church School or Shriners Hospitals for Children.
Visitation 2- 8 p.m. Friday at the Swartz Funeral home, 1225 West Hill Road. A Trisagion Service will be held at 7 p.m. Friday evening at the funeral home.
Visitation will be held for Mary from 10 a.m. Saturday until the time of the service at the church.
Mary was born in Flint, Michigan on May 3, 1921, the daughter of Nickola and Jellilah Faris.
She married her beloved husband, Frank Salim on November 10, 1946 in Flint and had four loving daughters.
She volunteered at the North End Soup Kitchen and was an active volunteer at her church, St. George Orthodox Church.
She enjoyed traveling and was an avid Red Wings Hockey fan.
Mrs. Salim worked side by side with her husband in their grocery business and retired as a legal receptionist.
She is survived by her daughters, Nancy (Michael) Silpoch,
Linda (Matthew) Shadeed,
Sharon (Rick) Ballreich and Deborah Salim (granddog, Caden);
grandchildren, Dr. Michelle Haskins-Borg (Joshua Borg),
Brian (Stephanie) Silpoch,
Justin Ballreich,
Clayton (Nicole) Ballreich,
Nicholas, Spencer,
Jordan and Francesca Shadeed;
5 great-grandchildren, Connor and Gracyn Haskins, Easton Borg, Brendan and Lauren Silpoch;
several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Frank Salim; parents, Nickola and Jellilah Faris; brother, Lester Faris; sisters, Eva Monsour, Mamie Shaheen and Lila Faris.
