IDONI, James - Age 80, of Fenton, passed away Friday, June 13, 2014 surrounded by his loving family. Funeral services will be held 10:00 AM Thursday, June 19, 2014 at Sharp Funeral Homes, Fenton Chapel, 1000 Silver Lake Road, Fenton. Pastor Jim Wiegand officiating. Burial immediately following in Great Lakes National Cemetery, Holly. Visitation will be held at the funeral home Wednesday from 1-8 PM. Those desiring may make contributions to Genesys Hospice.
James was born April 30, 1934 in New Rochelle, NY the son of Rocco and Mary (Borinsky) Idoni. He was a graduate of Roseville High School and attended the University of Michigan. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army. James married Elaine E. Ellingson November 27, 1959 in Detroit and she preceded him in death November 3, 2007. He retired from GM after 30 years of service and then was the General Manager of Premium Design.
Surviving are: 5 sons, Jim (Heather), Chris (Patti), Joel (Vivian), Peter (Joely), and Matt (Marni); 18 grandchildren, Rachel, Bethany, Jacob, Ben, Emily, Carman, Elaina, Madison, Donna, Angelo, Hannah, Luke, Gabe, Paul, Angelina, Val, Rocco, and Chloe; 3 great grandchildren, Sophie, Ezra, and Lainee; brother, William (Sue) Idoni; sister, Pinky (David) Shiveley; brother-in-law, Ted Ellingson; sister-in-law, Melinda (Joe) D'Alessandro. He was also preceded in death by his parents; sister, Barbara Bell; sister-in-law, Carol Ellingson; and granddaughter, Hallel.
