WALDROP, Paul Franklin Sr.- Age 79, of Flint, died April 9, 2013. Funeral services will be held 11:00 AM Saturday, April 13, 2013 at Sharp Funeral Homes, Miller Road Chapel, 8138 Miller Road, Swartz Creek. Pastor Sarah LaRose-Nettell officiating. Interment will be held 12:30 PM Monday, April 15, 2013 at Great Lakes National Cemetery, Holly. Visitation will be held 7-9 PM Thursday, 12-9 PM Friday, and 10-11 AM Saturday at the funeral home. Those desiring may make contributions to the family.
Paul was born July 1, 1933 in Asheville, North Carolina, the son of Fred and Mary (Arrowood) Waldrop. He married Mavis C. Lee on September 4, 1952 and she preceded him in death on November 24, 2009. He served as a combat engineer in the Army during the Korean War. He worked at Goodyear Rubber Co. for 35 years, retiring in 2005. Paul enjoyed fishing, racing and watching sports. He was a huge Detroit Tigers fan.
Surviving are children, Paul Franklin Waldrop Jr. of Flint, Alvin Waldrop of Clio, Lester Waldrop of Flint, Steve Waldrop of Flint, Debra (Richard) Sherrill of Clio; 13 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren; siblings, Wayne Waldrop of Flint, Lester Waldrop of SC, Barbara Williams of NC; special nephew and niece, Mike and Patti Cassida of NC. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Mavis; 2 brothers and 1 sister. Tributes may be shared n the obituaries page of www.sharpfuneralhomes.com. |
