Shmidt, Frank H. of Flushing, age 83, died Monday, October 14, 2013 at McLaren-Flint. Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Friday, October 18, 2013 at Rossell Funeral Home. Pastor Bill Bodnar will officiate. Burial will be at Great Lakes National Cemetery. Visitation will be 1-8 p.m. Thursday and 10 a.m. until the time of the service Friday at the funeral home. A Memorial Service under the Auspices of the Masonic Lodge #223, F & AM will be 7 p.m. Thursday. If desired, memorial contributions may be made to the Shriner’s Transportation Fund.
Frank was born in Flint, Michigan on February 13, 1930, the son of Frank and Helen (Cook) Shmidt. He proudly served in the U.S. Air Force. Frank married Mitzi Vredeveld on August 21, 1999 in Flushing, Michigan. He was a member of the Elf Khurafeh Temple, where he was a former President of the Banjo-tainers and the Royal Order of the Jesters. He was a member of the Oasis Shrine Club and Past President of Circus Park Shrine Club. Frank was a member of the Masonic Lodge # 223 F & AM. He was also a member of the Flushing Jaycees and Flushing Road Runners Square Dance Group. He owned and operated Royal TV for 25 years and then worked as a Real Estate Agent at Century 21-Woodland Realty for 25 years. Frank taught electronics at Mott Community College and was a handyman extraordinaire.
He is survived by his wife, Mitzi; children, Kathy Ducharme, Karen and husband John Meister, Rhonda and husband Jim Simek; step-children, David and wife Renee Vredeveld, Jon and wife Joy Vredeveld, Gary and wife Cindy Vredeveld; 19 grand-children; 10 great-grandchildren; sister, Verna and adopted family, Larry and Judy Stutzman and daughter, Amy. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Carole Shmidt; brother and sister; son-in-law, Rich Ducharme and step-son, Kenneth Vredeveld.
