GRIFFUS, Darryl L. - Of Swartz Creek, age 80, died Sunday, March 24, 2019 at Springvale Assisted Living in Swartz Creek.
Funeral service will be held 3pm Wednesday, March 27, 2019 at the Swartz Funeral Home, 1225 West Hill Road, Flint,
Paul Schlegelmilch and Pastor Scott Shamel officiating.
Cremation will take place following the service.
Contributions may be made to Alzheimer’s Research or St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
Visitation 12 Noon Wednesday until the time of the service at the funeral home.
Darryl was born in Flint on April 26, 1938, the son of Ernest and Hildred (Baldwin) Griffus. In 1956, he married Nettie Ruth Snider in Flint. Darryl retired from General Motors Truck and Bus in 1988. He enjoyed camping, woodworking and spending time with his family.
Surviving are wife, Ruth;
children, Gerald and wife Pamela Smith-Griffus of St. Clair County, Michele and husband Michael Tobias of Flint Township, Robert and wife Debra Griffus of Vassar, Sheri and husband James Johnson of Swartz Creek;
grandchildren, Jason and Mindy Griffus, Matthew Jones, Brian and Mandy Jones, Steven Johnson, Bradley and Rachael Johnson, Holly Rutherford, Katie and Scott Shamel, Jennifer and Jay Schuler and Jason Tobias;
great-grandchildren, Joe, Heidi, Addison, Sophie, Mya. Kiley, Reagan, Landon, Audrey, Lilly, Claire, Brody, Nova, Jackson and Tyler;
sister, Delores and husband Donald Corning of Flint;
brothers, Wendell and wife Sandy Griffus of Davison and Dallas and wife Marsha Griffus of Georgia;
and several nieces and nephews.
