Mesaros, Veronica (Skukalek), of Flushing, age 85, a loving and caring person to all who knew her, died Sunday, October 6, 2013 at her daughter’s home. Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday, October 9, 2013 at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Flint. Pastor David Hensler will officiate. Burial will follow at Flushing Cemetery. Visitation will be 1-8 p.m. Tuesday at Rossell Funeral Home and 10 a.m. until the time of the service Wednesday at the church. If desired, memorial contributions may be made to the Parkinson’s Disease Foundation.
Veronica was born in Kolarovice, Slovakia on September 13, 1928, the daughter of Thomas and Veronica (Kramarek) Skukalek. She married John Mesaros on October 22, 1949 in Flint. He preceded her in death on April 6, 1992.
Veronica was a member of the VFW Auxiliary, McLaren Auxiliary, and Fraternal Lodge Z.C.B.J., Flint Chapter. She was an active member of St. Paul Lutheran Church where she was in the Women’s Guild. Veronica enjoyed cooking and gardening. She was a seamstress and also enjoyed quilting, and sewing. She knitted blankets and hats and donated them to various places in need. Veronica loved spending time at her cabin near Traverse City, but her family and close friends were the most important things to her.
She is survived by her children, Jayne Tate of Durand, John D. Mesaros, M.D. of Reisterstown, MD; granddaughter, Carolena Mesaros; sister, Betty Kozumplik; sisters-in-law, Joanne Mesaros, Mildred Kindle and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her brother, Steven Skukalek.
