JAMES E. ARMSTRONG, age75 of Millington, died Sunday, December 7, 2014 at his home. His funeral service will be held at 11AM on Friday, December 12, 2014 at Emmanuel Baptist Church in Otisville, with Pastor Cole officiating. The family will be accepting visitors at the funeral home on Wednesday, December 10, 2014 from 4-8pm and Thursday, December 11, 2014 from 11AM-2PM and 4-8PM. Contributions may be made to Gideon International or the Pregnancy Resource Center of Lapeer. James was born on May 11, 1939, the son of Charles and Lefa (Turner) Armstrong. He married Marion Bannerman in Davison, MI on November 28, 1959. James was a member of Emmanuel Baptist Church in Otisville, where he served as a Deacon and treasurer. He was a devout Christian, who loved the Lord, His people, and His church. He loved to help others and his “handiwork” is evident in many homes and in his church. He loved driving kids to church, play practice, and band practice. James loved to talk and was a “people person.” He could hold a comfortable conversation with anyone and was never at a loss for words or to share his opinion. He enjoyed bowling, playing softball and golf, and reading. James liked to do crossword puzzles and never missed an episode of Jeopardy! He was an avid bird watcher and faithfully fed them too. He worked as a mailman, milkman, and breadman, delivering goods to people. James also loved to travel and had been to all the states, except Alaska and Hawaii. He traveled throughout Canada and Mexico and enjoyed visiting historical sites, as well as natural wonders and parks. He is survived by his wife, Marion; daughters: Richele (Rich) Schaffer, Rebecca (Andy) Putvin, Renee (Ben) Hames, and Jaymie (Randy) Marshall; grandchildren: Hadaas, Drew, Michal, Trevor, Lidia, Malachi, Ali, Ellie, Kelvin, and Sam; great-grandson, Levi; sisters: Pat Fulton and Ruth Mayes; Brother-in-Law, Ted Maslanik; and many nieces and nephews. |
