Hritz, Daniel Michael of Flint, age 87, died Sunday, May 5, 2024, at his home. At Dan’s very specific request, there will be no funeral service. Cremation will take place and per Dan’s request, his cremated remains will be joined with those of his beloved wife, Linda. Their final resting place will be in Woodlawn Cemetery, Columbiaville, Michigan.


Daniel was born in Flint, Michigan on March 13, 1937, the son of Michael and Mary (Shomsky) Hritz. Dan was a graduate of Davison High School, Class of 1955. He served in the U.S. Air Force from 1955 to 1959 and a Bomb/Nav Repair Technician on B47 Medium Range Bombers (Strategic Air Command). Dan’s home base was March AFB, California with tours of duty in Guam and Alaska.


Daniel married his beloved Linda Perkins on June 17, 1961, and together they raised three children. Dan was employed by AC Spark Plug, retiring in 1993, as a Quality Engineer after 38 years of service. During his years at AC, Dan worked mainly in Quality Coordination of supplier provided electronic components. He traveled to many states and foreign countries, as his job required. On a few of those overseas trips, he was accompanied by his loving wife, Linda, who unofficially adopted Britain.


He was a parishioner of St. Michael Byzantine Catholic Church, in Flushing, serving on the Parish Council, coordinator of the fund-raising baking project and attending to the numerous maintenance and groundskeeping tasks.


Dan was a wonderful role model and never sought recognition. He was a gentle man who smiled easily and often. He was generous with his time. Dan will be remembered as patient and stoic and the kindest person who ever existed. Everyone who knew him loved him.


He is survived by his children, Margaret Diurni of Flint, Nick (Laura Siege) Hritz of New York City, New York, Teresa and husband Perry Stephenson of Flushing; grandsons, Daniel and wife Nicole Brown, Jeff (Stephanie Bates) Brown; several great-grandchildren; sister, Rosemary Boone. Dan was preceded in death by his infant daughter, Jennifer in 1963; wife, Linda in 2014; and his parents.
