EDGERLY, Marguerite S. – of Davison, age 101, passed away January 12, 2013 at home, surrounded by her loving family. A Funeral Service will be held 11 a.m. Tuesday, January 15, 2013 at Richfield Church of the Nazarene, 7524 E. Mt. Morris Rd., Otisville, MI; Pastors Steve Anthony and Alan Duce co-officiating. Burial will be in Tanner Cemetery. Visitation will be at Richfield Church of the Nazarene from 3-7:30 p.m. Monday and 10-11 a.m. Tuesday. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Work in Witness at Richfield Church of Nazarene or Rays of Hope for Haiti.
Marguerite was born in Flint on September 7, 1911, daughter of the late John Herman and Mary (Clark) Taylor. She attended Tanner School and Central High School. Marguerite then attended Olivet Nazarene College in Illinois. She remained a resident of Flint until she moved to Davison in 1995. Marguerite Taylor married Fay Edgerly at Richfield Church of the Nazarene in 1938. Fay preceded her in death in August of 1988. Marguerite was the oldest member of Richfield Church of the Nazarene, which she had faithfully attended since the age of seven. She had served as the Sunday School Secretary. In 1947, together with Fay, Marguerite owned and operated Concrete Weld Co. She was the office manager. Later, she worked as secretary for the City of Flint. Marguerite enjoyed knitting and loved socializing with her family and friends.
Marguerite is survived by her children, Lillian (Steve) VanVleet, Ed (Nita) Edgerly, Shirley Brown and Doris (John) Woodruff; grandchildren, Nathaniel (Cindy) VanVleet, Amanda VanVleet, Sue (Dave) Culver, Shelly (Keith) Sparks, Jeff (Jeanne) Black,Sandy (John) Kivela, Travis (Jennifer) Black, Aaron Woodruff, Daron (Kori) Woodruff and Adam (Miranda) Woodruff; 16 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her siblings, Robert Clark, Norris Taylor, Ruth Bigger, Donald Taylor, Elton Taylor and Lawson Taylor. Marguerite’s family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to all of those who helped and supported them; especially, Gary and Shirley Herner, Helen McBride, Grace Jarrell, Hazel May, Donna and the staff of Braidwood Manor, and the staff of Hospice Advantage.
