MAZUR, John S. – of Davison, age 70, passed away December 29, 2017 at his residence. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated 2 PM Tuesday, January 2, 2018 at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, 404 N. Dayton St., Davison, MI 48423; Rev. Fr. Andrew A. Czajkowski celebrant. Burial, with Military Honors under the auspices of Davison American Legion Post #267, will be in St. John Catholic Cemetery. Visitation will be Sunday from 11 AM - 1 PM & 3-6 PM and Monday from 12 – 4 PM at Allen Funeral Home, 9136 Davison Rd., Davison, MI 48423. There will be one hour of visitation prior to the Mass on Tuesday at church. A Rosary will be prayed 2 PM on Monday. A Memorial Service, under the auspices of Third Degree Knights of Columbus Council #4090 and Fourth Degree Assembly # 0523 of Davison will be held 3 PM Monday. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church for Masses (NO FLOWERS, DUE TO FAMILY ALLERGIES).
John was born in Hamtramck, MI. He graduated from Croswell Lexington High School in 1966. John married Nancy on August 1, 1970. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War. John retired from GM on October 1, 2004. He was a member of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, their 50 and over club, F.O.E. #3589 Davison, Knights of Columbus 3rd and 4th Degree, men’s club, Singing Knights, resurrection choir and enjoyed camping. John battled Parkinson’s disease for many years.
John is survived by his wife, Nancy; daughter, Tammy (Mike) Moore; Son, James Mazur; grandchildren, Travis, Aaron, Allison; brother, Ed; sister, Catherine Whitebread; Sister- in -law Marian Chron, Brother-in-law John (Mary Alice) Bach, many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his sister, Delores Mazur. The family would like to give a special thank you to Fr. Carl Simon, Fr. Robert C. Bacik, and the Reverence Hospice Doctors, Nurses, Nurse Fran, and the Social Worker David.
