SMITH, Barbara R. (Card)– of Flushing, MI, age 93, passed away Thursday, May 9, 2024. A Funeral Service will be held 1 PM Thursday, May 16, 2024 at Allen Funeral Home, 9136 Davison Road, Davison, MI 48423; Pastor Jay Jones officiating. Interment immediately following the service in Flint Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will receive visitors 5-7 PM Wednesday, May 15, 2024 and 12-1 PM Thursday, May 16, 2024 at Allen Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Adopt-A-Pet or The Medical Team Hospice, in Barbara’s memory.
Barbara was born in Pinckney, MI on October 11, 1930, daughter of the late Glenn and Lillian (Mitchell) Card. On October 17, 1953, she married Raymond “Sonny” F. Smith, Jr, and he preceded her in death on July 30, 2015. Barbara found solace and happiness in the simple pleasures of life. Her love for the outdoors was evident in her passion for camping and fishing along the tranquil banks of the AuSable River in Glennie, MI. As a devoted wife and mother, Barbara's nurturing spirit enriched the lives of her loved ones. She exemplified the essence of unconditional love and selflessness, shaping the lives of her children and guiding them with unwavering support and affection. Her role as a grandmother spanned three generations, and she reveled in the joy of witnessing her family grow and flourish. Barbara's heart overflowed with love for her family. She cherished every moment spent in their company, finding immense happiness in their laughter and shared experiences. Her home was a haven of warmth and hospitality, where love and laughter echoed through the halls. An ardent supporter of the Detroit Tigers, Barbara's passion for baseball added an extra layer of excitement to her life. She eagerly followed the team's journey, celebrating victories and enduring losses with unwavering loyalty. Though Barbara may have bid farewell to this world, her spirit lives on in the hearts of those who were fortunate enough to know her. Her legacy of love, kindness, and cherished memories will forever be cherished and remembered.
Barbara is survived by 5 children, Robin Lucas, Gail (Kevin) Parker, Glenda Breidenstein, David (Janet Hall) Smith and Raymond Smith; 10 grandchildren, Chris (Tracy), Jeri-Lynn (Matt), Gary (Andrea), Ricky (Alyssa), Amber, Zac, Jessica (Trent), Menchie (Neal), Tabitha (Gene) and Taylor (Chris); 21 great-grandchildren; 4 great-great-grandchildren with 1 on the way; grand-dog, Ziva; 2 siblings, Bernadine Stacy and Bernadette Summers; 2 sisters-in-law, Dianne “Susie” Anderson and Anna Mae Coulter; many well-loved cousins, nieces, nephews, other family members and dear friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, Glenn and Lillian Card; husband, Raymond “Sonny” F. Smith, Jr.; 4 siblings, Ruth (Jim) Jones, Glenn “Junior” (Betty) Card, Joe (Betty) Card and Rita (Kenneth) Young; son-in-law, Jerry Lucas; parents-in-law, Raymond and Inez Smith.
