PRCHLIK, Edward John- Age 88, of Swartz Creek, died November 29, 2016. Funeral Mass will be celebrated 11:00 AM Saturday December 3 at St. Mary Queen of Angels Catholic Church, 4413 Morrish Road, Swartz Creek. Fr. Louis Ekka celebrant. Interment at Great Lakes National Cemetery, Holly will be 10AM Monday December 5. Visitation will be held 2-4PM and 6-8 PM Friday at Sharp Funeral Homes Miller Road Chapel, 8138 Miller Rd., Swartz Creek. A Knights of Columbus Rosary service will be prayed 7:00 PM Friday at the funeral home, where a Chalice Service will follow. Visitation will also be 10AM until time of service at the church on Saturday. Those desiring may make contributions to St. Mary Knights of Columbus Council 6694.
Edward was born December 22, 1927 in Owosso, the son of John and Rosie (Dvorak) Prchlik. He married Emily Kocis in Saginaw on October 8, 1949. Edward was employed as a skilled tradesman at GM and retired after 35 years of service. Edward was a Veteran of the U.S. Army serving in WWII. He was a member of St. Mary Queen of Angels Catholic Church where he was a highly involved parishioner. He was the past president of the Genesee Catholic Council on Aging, the Genesee County Representative to Lansing Diocese Committee on Aging. He was also a member of St. Mary Knights of Columbus Council 6694. He was Chaplin for the American Legion Post 294, SC VFW #3720. He also was a member of the Knights of Columbus 3rd and 4th Degree, Singing Knights, K of C Male Choir, and the President of St. Mary 50 and over group. Edward was also involved with the Swartz Creek Senior Center, was the former assistant troop leader of the Boy Scouts, was a Little League Coach and Midget League Coach Edward also was part of the AMVETS Post 3720 Honor Guard, Swartz Creek VFW AMVETS, and served on the Soldiers Relief Commission for 44 years.
Edward is survived by his wife; Emily, children; Jaclynn (James) Mesacki; Edward (Cheryl) Prchlik; grandchildren, Laura (Chuck) Parsons, Andrea ( Joe Sawatzki) Vert, Daniel Prchlik; greatgrandchildren; Carson and Grace Vert.
