LONG, Steven Robert - Age 61, of Swartz Creek, passed away August 18, 2024. Funeral services will be held 11AM Thursday, August 22, 2024 at Sharp Funeral Homes, Miller Road Chapel, 8138 Miller Rd., Swartz Creek. Pastor Paul Pfeuffer will officiate. Entombment will follow in Crestwood Memorial Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 2-4 & 6-8 PM Wednesday. Those desiring may make donations in his memory to Humane Society of Genesee County. Steve was born March 10, 1963 in Flint, the son of R. Richard and Nancy Evalyn (Lasley) Long. He was a graduate of Swartz Creek High School and Hurley School of Nursing. Steve had worked as a Registered Nurse at Hurley Medical Center, McLaren-Flint and Memorial Healthcare in Owosso. Over the last few years, Steve enjoyed working part-time at Family Dollar, where he knew most of his customers. Steve was an active member of the Swartz Creek Community; serving on the Planning Commission, Parks and Recreation Committee, volunteering for Police Fundraisers, Save Our Streets and was an expert on the history of Winchester Village, where he lived his entire life. He loved his dogs, Punkin, Lucy May and Waffles dearly. A lover of cruises and travel, he enjoyed visiting Hawaii, Alaska, the Caribbean and extensively traveling Europe. Steve was a member of Flushing Presbyterian Church. He is survived by his husband, Wayne Dorman; aunts, Wanda Sue Cramer and Mona Kay Sliger; many beloved cousins; special cousin, Gina Webb. He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Judy "Toots" Dover; special cousin, Brenda Gann. Tributes may be shared at www.sharpfuneralhomes.com
