HRESKO, Emery “Jim” – Of Linden, age 86, died Tuesday, September 4, 2012 at his residence.
Funeral Liturgy will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, September 8, 2012 at St. Robert Bellarmine Church 310 North Cherry Street, Flushing, Father Roy Horning and Father Robert McKeon con-celebrating.
Burial in New Calvary Catholic Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to St. Joseph Catholic Church Building Fund, Gaines, MI.
Visitation 12-8 p.m. Friday at the Swartz Funeral Home, 1225 West Hill Road. A Rosary will be prayed at 7 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
Mr. Hresko will be at the church from 9:30 a.m. Saturday until the time of the Funeral Liturgy.
Mr. Hresko was born in Brownsville, Pennsylvania on June 16, 1926,
the son of Michael and Helen Hresko.
He signed with the Detroit Tigers in 1943 at the age of 17 and played professional baseball for 7 years.
On October 23, 1946 he married Rita Kolton at All Saints Catholic Church.
He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II.
He loved hunting and fishing with his children and friends.
Mr. Hresko attended GMI and was employed by General Motors, Buick Motor Division for 37 years, retiring in 1985.
Surviving are wife, Rita;
children, Carol (Dr. Mac) Conover, Mark (Tammy),
Paul (Patti) and
Jamie (Kathy);
11 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents and son, Mark.
