HUMMEL, Donald – of Davison, age 89, passed away Thursday, July 25, 2019 at the Cottage of Davison. A Funeral Service will be held 10 AM Monday, July 29, 2019 at Allen Funeral Home, 9136 Davison Rd., Davison; Pastor Susan Lidums officiating. Burial with Military Honors will be in Crestwood Cemetery. Visitation will be 4-8 PM Saturday, 12-4 and 6-8 PM Sunday and 9-10 AM Monday. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Association or the Charity of one’s choice.
Donald was born in Flint, MI on July 2, 1930, son of the late Clarence and Jeanette (Carbiener) Hummel. He married Shirley Gabel on June 24, 1955. Donald was a 1948 graduate of Goodrich High School. He proudly served his country in the U. S. Army during the Korean War. Donald retired from Buick as a General Foreman in 1987. He served as president of the Genesee Valley Tractor Collectors Club for 5 years and was a hobby farmer.
Donald is survived by his wife of 64 years, Shirley; children, Duane Hummel, Debra (Bill) Nicolai; grandchildren, Tyler Hummel, Zachary Hummel, William (Sarah) Nicolai, Kristina Nicolai, Matthew Nicolai; great grandchildren, Hudson and Kali; siblings, Howard (Reba), Elaine (Bill) Carpenter, Carl and Earl (Sue); several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his sister, Jean Greer and nephew, John Carpenter.
