NICKERT, Donald “Bud” – of Flint, age 79, passed away October 1, 2014 at his residence. A Funeral Service will be held 11 AM Monday, October 6, 2014 at Allen Funeral Home, 9136 Davison Rd., Davison; Sr. Pastor Tom Forgo officiating. Private burial with Military Honors will be in Great Lakes National Cemetery. Visitation will be 11 AM – 8 PM Sunday and 10-11 AM Monday. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Kidney Foundation of Michigan.
Bud was born in Mayville, MI on December 15, 1934, son of the late Martin and Gladys (McBride) Nickert. He graduated from Mayville High School in 1953 then went on to GMI. After graduating, he proudly served his country with the U.S. Army. Bud married Marlene DeWitt on December 4, 1965 in Flint, MI. Bud was a member of the Michigan Blue Grass Association and UAW Local #659. He enjoyed hunting and fishing. Bud loved his Tigers and Lions. His greatest passion was gardening, playing the guitar and singing. Bud worked as a Millwright at Chevrolet for 39 ½ years.
Bud is survived by his wife, Marlene; son, David (Carol) McCarty; son, Kevin (Vicki) McCarty and their children, Nicole (Jordan) Streu, Megan McCarty (fiancé, Matt Hardy), Amanda McCarty (boyfriend, Greg Williams), Donald McCarty (girlfriend, Sarah Race); son, Scott (Lorrie) McCarty and their children, Matthew McCarty and Adam McCarty; special friends, Mike and Stacey Peters, Alivia, Houston and Melinda Brown. He was preceded in death by siblings, Jackie, Francine, Bill, Pete, Geraldine and Mildred.
