MURRAY, Charles William Jr. – Of Flint, age 87, died Tuesday, January 20, 2015 at McLaren-Flint.
Memorial service will be held at 12 p.m. Friday, January 23, 2015 at the Swartz Funeral Home, 1225 West Hill Road, Reverend James Offrink officiating.
Cremains to be interred at Great Lakes National Cemetery.
Those desiring may make contributions to Presbyterian Kirk of the Lake.
Memorial visitation 3-8 p.m. Thursday and 11 a.m. Friday until the time of the service at the funeral home.
Charles was born in Lapeer, Michigan on May 24, 1927, son of the late Dr. C.W., Sr. and Martha Mae (Robison) Murray.
On October 18, 1947 he married Arlene R. Auger at Community Presbyterian in Flint.
He was a graduate of Wentworth Military Academy in Lexington, Missouri.
Mr. Murray was a Veteran of the United States Navy.
He was a member of Parkland Presbyterian in Flint and Presbyterian Kirk of the Lake in Houghton Lake.
He was a longtime volunteer at Markey Township and he enjoyed volunteering his services at Presbyterian Kirk of the Lake.
Mr. Murray was a Flint Police Officer. He retired from Interstate Trucking and was a member of Teamster Local #332.
Surviving are wife of 67 years, Arlene;
children, Diane Cooper,
Linda (John) Baldaray,
Richard (Suzanne) Murray and
William (Pamela) Murray;
son-in-law, Mark Cady, Sr.;
12 grandchildren, Stephanie (Jim) Gehl, Pamela and Michelle Cooper, Mark (Brooke) Cady, Angela, Rick (Jennie), Ryan (Jenny), William and Katelyn Murray, Melissa Putney, John (Erica) Baldaray and Leia (Kory) Felix;
5 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Cathy Cady and three sisters.
