LAWRENCE, Shirley Mae (Bechtel) – of Davison, age 85, passed away December 15, 2015 at Genesee Care Center. A Funeral Service will be held 11 AM Monday, December 21, 2015 at Allen Funeral Home, 9136 Davison Rd., Davison; Elder John Hart and Evangelist Carol Ross co-officiating. Burial will be in Sunset Hills Cemetery. Visitation will be 4-8 PM Sunday and 10-11 AM Monday. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Shriners Hospital for Children.
Shirley was born in Bay City, MI on November 7, 1930, daughter of the late Frederick and Lydia (Stender) Bechtel. She married John “Jack” Lawrence on May 20, 1950 in Flint, MI and he preceded her in death in 2006. Shirley was a member of Community of Christ Church, East Side Congregation and was a member of the Eastern Stars. She worked for AC Spark Plug/ Fisher Body for 28 years. Shirley and Jack loved to travel with family and many friends. She enjoyed oil and watercolor painting, cards and dining out at her many favorite restaurants. Shirley especially loved old movies.
Shirley is survived by her children, Judith (Dr. Gary) Wilson, John Lawrence, Jr., Sandra Lawrence, James (Pam) Lawrence, Sally (Dale) Booth, Jill Bencheck; 13 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; sister, Judith Reeves; many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her siblings, Nancy McBride, David Bechtel, Sharon Casey; son-in-law, George “Butch” Bencheck. The family would like to extend a special thank you to Reverence Hospice for their care and compassion of Shirley.
