SMITH, Bonnie L. - of Flushing, age 77, went home to be with her Lord on Wednesday, August 2, 2017. A memorial service will be held at 12PM Monday, August 7, 2017 at Mayfair Bible Church – 5339 W. Pierson Rd., in Flushing. Pastor Dean Stewart officiating. The family will receive visitors at the church on Monday from 10AM until the time of service at 12PM. Memorial contributions may be made to Mayfair Bible Church – Mortgage Retirement Fund.
Bonnie was born July 20, 1940 in Flint, Michigan to the late Otto and Mollie (Arndt) Weber. She graduated from Flint Northern High School in 1958. Bonnie married the love of her life, Darwin J. Smith on June 25, 1960 at Calvary Bible Church. She was a devoted wife and they enjoyed over 50 years together. Darwin preceded her in death on September 11, 2013. Bonnie was a secretary with Flint Christian School for many years. She was a very active member of Mayfair Bible Church where she served in the Women and Children’s Ministry and sang in the choir. Bonnie was a wonderful seamstress and specialized in children’s clothing and wedding attire. She enjoyed bowling, gardening, and hosting gatherings at her home. Bonnie loved the Detroit Tigers and attended the 1968 World Series game. Her selfless love could always be felt by those around her.
Surviving are: Son, Jeff (Brenda) Smith of Swartz Creek; Daughters: Jennifer (Jeff) LaFerney of Davison, and Shelly (Thad) Beckman of Swartz Creek; Grandchildren: Mindy (Ben) Lang, Jacob (Sarah) Smith, Torey LaFerney, Teryn LaFerney, Jordan Beckman, and Jaxon Beckman; Great-grandchildren: Lorelai Lang, Lynden Lang, Magnolia Smith, and another great-granddaughter on the way; Sister, Joanne (Jerry) Smith; Brothers in law: Phil (Linda) Smith, and Robert Kilgore; Sister in law, Jo Weber. Bonnie was also preceded in death by her brother, Robert Weber; Sister, Carol Kilgore, and brother in law, Gary Smith.
