TRUMAN, Phyllis J. of Birch Run (Grand Blanc) went home with her Lord on March 20, 2025. She was born in Flint, Michigan, on December 19, 1942, the daughter of Charles Wyman and Mary Margaret (Aikman) Barber. She graduated from Clio High School, Class of 1960. On December 6, 1969, she married LeRoy C. Truman in Flint. She worked at AC Sparkplug for six years and Grand Blanc Community Schools for 23 years. She attended Flint First Wesleyan Church for many years where she taught Sunday School and sang in the choir.
She most recently attended Fellowship Baptist Church in Clio, and Calvary Baptist Church in Mikado, Michigan. Phyllis belonged to the Model A Restorers Club, the International Ford Retractable Club and Genesee Landlord's Association. She enjoyed spending time at her family cabin, crocheting, baking, playing games,attending TOPS class and Senior Saints at her church.
She is survived by her husband, LeRoy, two daughters Pamela (Brian) Ward of Knoxville, TN, and Melinda (Claudio) Carrabs of Clio, Michigan. She was blessed with six grandchildren- Ethan, Elliott, Eva of Knoxville, TN, and Mark, Matthew and Victoria Carrabs of Clio, Michigan.
She is also survived by sisters Ruth Steepe of Midland, Michigan, and Kathleen (Edd) McCulloch of Texas, many nieces, nephews, and dear friends. She is preceded in death by her parents, brothers Ronald, Marvin, and Gordon Barber, infant sister Mary Ann Edith, sisters Ardyth Eldridge and Eileen Jennings, brothers-in-law Paul Eldridge, Edward Jennings, and Robert Steepe.
Funeral service will be held 2pm Saturday, March 22, 2025 at Fellowship Baptist Church, 14046 North Saginaw Road, Clio with Pastor Darrel Manning, nephew Dan Steepe, and friend Dennis Rouse officiating.
Visitation 10am Saturday until the time of the service at the church.
Burial in Flint Memorial Park.
