HANCOCK, Gerald Alan “Jerry” – Of Davison, formerly of Flint, age 93, died Friday, January 31, 2025 at home with his family at his side.
Jerry was born in Herrin, Illinois on February 1, 1931, the son of James Edward and Helen (Kratsch) Hancock. On May 12, 1956, he married Betty Joan Allison, which they shared 62 years of marriage. He worked for General Motors AC Spark Plug for 30 years retiring in 1981. He also had a career with the Flint Journal for 43 year (1966 to 2009). Jerry served his country with the United States Air Force for 5 years and prior to that served in the National Guard for 7 years. Jerry enjoyed planting a summer garden (pole beans and tomatoes), euchre, pinochle, flying planes, riding his Harley in his younger years, restoring a 1963 Riviera, taking vacations to many of the casinos in the United States. He also spent spare time helping family and friends with various household projects and repairs. Jerry enjoyed giving all the grandchildren and great-grandchildren nicknames.
Surviving are 5 children, Rita (Dave) Roach, Russell Hancock, Karen Overfield, Cynthia Lemcke and Linda (Kurt) Procunier.
Grandchildren, Jessica Lemcke, Justin (Amber) Lemcke, Jordan (Alexis) Procunier, Hillary Procunier (Steve Sanderson), Andrew Roach (Fiancé Lauren Captain), Allison (Zachary) Roach-Thwing, Haily {Adisson) Willford.
Great Grandchildren, Brianna (Kamryn) Bowles, Ashlynn, Raelynn, Kaitlynn, Taylor, Kylie, Addilyn, Kinsley, Lincoln (Little Abe) and Nora. Great-Great Granddaughter Vivian.
He was preceded in death by wife, parents, sister Barbara (Carl) Gray, brother Donald (Rae) Hancock, special cousin Max Dorr, nieces and nephews, and precious great-grand daughter Everley Anne Renae Willford September of 2017.
Funeral service will be held at 7pm Tuesday, February 4, 2025 at the Swartz Funeral Home, 1225 West Hill Road, Flint, MI.
Visitation 3pm Tuesday until the time of the service at the funeral home.
Private burial in Great Lakes National Cemetery in Holly, Michigan.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made Great Lakes National Cemetery in Holly, Michigan, The NICU of Hurley Medical center or Residential Hospice of Lapeer, Michigan.
