BISHOP, Delhia Frances (Beaver) – of Burton, MI, age 73, passed away Saturday, August 10, 2024. Cremation has taken place. Inurnment 1 PM Thursday, August 29, 2024 in Great Lakes National Cemetery, 4200 Belford Road, Holly, MI 48442.
Delhia was born in Augusta, Georgia on July 3, 1951, daughter of the late Charles and Nadine (Bradshaw) Beaver. Her life was a testament to the beauty of simplicity and connection, as she delighted in sunny days spent with loved ones and cherished every moment with her family and friends. Delhia’s adventurous spirit shone brightly through her travels with her husband, Tom, where they explored new horizons together. She found joy in the little things, from playing Bingo and cards to watching her favorite television shows, "The Waltons" and "Little House on the Prairie," with her devoted dog, Tootie by her side. Her kindness and generosity were evident in everything she did. Always putting others before herself, Delhia touched the lives of everyone around her with her quick wit and genuine compassion. She had a special place in her heart for Lay’s classic potato chips, and her joyful presence will be deeply missed. Delhia cherished the time spent with her daughter and son-in-law, Cheryl and Jeremy, especially when they gathered to watch game shows. Her eyes would sparkle with pure delight at the sight of her beloved grandchildren and great-grandchildren, moments she cherished deeply. Among her many treasured memories were the visits from her granddaughter, Tyler, who not only brought her special meals throughout the week but also spent countless days and nights creating cherished memories together. Delhia's love and compassion touched many lives, and she will be deeply missed. Rest in peace, Mom. You will forever remain in our hearts and memories.
Delhia is survived by two children, Cheryl (Jeremy) Hoover of Burton, Michigan and Kenneth (Crystal) Brittian of Aiken, South Carolina; seven grandchildren, Tyler (Austin) Brewer, Trent (Noelle) Tuttle, Tanner (Savannah) Tuttle, Shyanne (Sean) McFarlin, Andrew (Julie) Lynn, Makenzie (Jory) Hoover-Lord and Keith Hoover; nine great-grandchildren; five step-children, Thomas (Barb) Bishop, Thomasa Allen-Bair, Shelley Taylor, Lorri Love-Bishop and Bradley (Jutta) Bishop; two sisters, Lorali Allen of Flint, Michigan and Artella (Nanette) Beaver of Burton, Michigan; many other loving family members and dear friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Nadine Beaver; husband, Thomas Clark Bishop; three brothers, Ashley Beaver, Johnny Beaver and Wesley Beaver; two sisters, Ruthie Blevins and Cheryl Beaver; beloved canine companion, Tootie.
The family extends heartfelt gratitude to Pam Meyer of Comfort Keepers and Delhia’s neighbors, Sheryl & Darrell Hilliard, for their unwavering kindness, friendship, and generosity. Your support and love meant the world to Delhia and her family.
