Patricia (Parks) Whitcomb (1945-2024) was a lively and fastidious wife, step-mom, and grandma who was known for her volunteer work, love of golf, and an unsurpassed love of penguins. On May 30, 2024, Patricia passed away in Flint, Michigan.
A Celebration of Life will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, June 5, 2024 at the Swartz Funeral Home, 1225 West Hill Road, Dr. Dallas Gatlin officiating.
Visitation 1 p.m. Wednesday until the time of the service at the funeral home.
Born in Brattleboro, VT, Patricia grew up on a farm in North Hinsdale, NH. She earned her undergraduate degree at the American International College and later earned a master’s degree from Michigan State University. For more than 30 years, she was a dedicated educator, spending the majority of her teaching career at Carman High School.
An avid volunteer at her church and local elementary schools, Patricia was an involved community member. She also was a member of the American Business Women’s Association (ABWA) for the duration of her career.
With her husband, Marvin, Patricia moved to Travelers’ Rest, SC in 2004. The two spent 18 years enjoying their dream life together in a house right off the tenth hole of the golf course they spent so much time on.
Patricia was a caring step-mother to Scott and Debbie and a devoted grandmother to their children.
She was preceded in death by Carlton Rouillard (father), Estelle Rouillard (mother), Ed Rouillard (brother), Barbara Howe (sister). She will be greatly missed by Marvin Whitcomb (husband), Debbie Pettus (daughter) and her husband Jim, Scott Whitcomb (son) and his wife Angela, Rick Rouillard (brother), and grandchildren Andrew Malosh, Cj Pettus, Eli Pettus, Levi Pettus, and David Whitcomb.
