Geraldine (Jeri) Black
Lapeer, formerly of Clio
Age 94, died Monday, January 16, 2017, in Florida. Per Jeri's wishes, cremation has already taken place. A memorial service will be held at the Elks Lodge in Lapeer, on March 5, 2017, from 1:00 pm until 4:00 pm.
Jeri was born March 5, 1922, to Marion and Agnes Pack in Carlisle, Arkansas. After serving in the Women's Army Auxiliary Corp, she moved to Michigan to work as a practical nurse. Jeri married James T. Black, who preceded her in death, on September 23, 1944. As a loving mother, she devoted her life to her two daughters, five grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren. Jeri enjoyed helping her daughter, Denise, and son-in-law, Gary at Calvelli's Eatery. Greeting customers with a warm smile, a little conversation, and laughter, she made everyone feel welcomed. She never met a stranger, just a friend who's name she didn't know. Jeri loved to dance and could often be seen in her poodle skirt and saddle oxfords 'cutting a rug' to tunes from the 50's and 60's. Left to cherish her memory are daughters: Patricia (Richard) Cyrul and Denise (Gary) Dixon; grandchildren: Rachelle and Christopher Fox, Shawna Fox-Sackett, Bryan and Marc (Michelle) Dixon; and great-grandchildren: Shane Fox, Sarah Sackett, Joseph and Annabelle Fox, and Eveline Dixon; as well as many nieces, nephews, and cousins. |
