GEMBEL, Anna B. – of Flint, age 92, died Monday, September 4, 2017 at Angel Manor Assisted Living in Clio. Funeral services will be held 1PM Thursday, September 7, 2017 at the O’Guinn Family Funeral Home in Clio. Pastor Ray Vii officiating. Burial in Flint Memorial Park. Family will receive visitors at the funeral home on Thursday from 11AM until the time of service at 1PM.
Anna was born July 20, 1925 in Hazleton, Pennsylvania to the late John and Blanche (Bunk) Chaya. She graduated from Hazle Township High School in 1943. Anna married John Gembel in Hazleton, PA on August 31, 1946. John preceded her in death in 2010. She worked for Michigan Bell Telephone and retired in 1981 with 25 years of service. Anna always boasted about having 20 years of perfect attendance. She enjoyed bowling, traveling, reading, and enjoying the Gaylord, Michigan scenery. Anna also enjoyed traveling with the WWII group, where she visited Europe many times. She was always proud to be a coal miner’s daughter.
Surviving are: Children: Ken (Jeannie) Gembel, Larry (Linda) Gembel; Grandchildren: Ken (Alicia) Gembel II, Kevin (Kari) Gembel, Christopher (Gina) Gembel, Jennifer Gembel; Great Grandchildren: Lilly, Lexi, Maria and Brady Gembel; Sister, Theresa Sherno; Brother, John Chaya. She also was preceded in death by her daughter, Barbara Gembel; Brother, Eddie Chaya; Sisters: Marie Ziminki, Dorothy Wolk and Della Chaya.
