Shirley Jane Parsch, 93, of Lapeer, died Monday, March 14, 2016.
Shirley was born October 14, 1922 in Lapeer to parents Joy L. and Genevieve (Colson) Green. She graduated from Lapeer High School, class of 1939. Shirley married Roderick “Rod” Parsch on July 22, 1943 at the Immaculate Conception Church in Lapeer. Shirley was very active in the Lapeer community volunteering over forty years with the Lapeer Hospital Auxiliary, many years with the Suncrest Auxiliary and was a longtime member of the Lapeer County Historical Society. Shirley was also very dedicated to the Immaculate Conception Church parrish where she was an active member most of her life. In 2002, Shirley was recognized as Lapeer's Citizen of the Year. Above all, Shirley was a devoted and loving mother, wife, sister and grandmother. She took great pride in her family.
Shirley is survived by her children: Father David Parsch of Standish, Gary (Paula) Parsch of Hope, Anne (John) Gault of Flushing, Paul Parsch of Lapeer, Vicki (Mitch) Caskey of Attica, Melinda Dinsmore of Lapeer, Melissa (Rick) Sochacki of Bay City and Kathy (Brian) Zimmermann of Midland; fifteen grandchildren: Laurel, Steve, Zach, Rod, Leah, Emily, Abigail, Genevieve, Kari, Lisa, Elizabeth, Hannah, Molly, Audrey and Luke; fourteen great grandchildren (& one on the way); brother, John (Phyllis) Green of Canton, OH. Shirley is also survived by “daughter” Fiona (Tim) Carew of Reno, NV. Shirley was preceded in death by her husband, Rod L. Parsch (d 1990); brother, Lawrence Green; her son-in-law, Steve Dinsmore and her parents.
Visitation will be from 4-8PM Tuesday, March 15, 2016 and Wednesday, March 16, 2016 from 1-4/6-8PM at Muir Brothers Funeral Home, Lapeer. There will be a Rosary/Prayer service Wednesday evening at 7PM. Shirley's funeral Mass will be 11:00AM Thursday, March 17, 2016 at Immaculate Conception Church, Lapeer – Father David Parsch will officiate. Burial will in Mt. Loretto Cemetery, Lapeer.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Capuchin Retreat Center - Washington, MI, Bishop Kelley Catholic School - Lapeer, MI or the Lapeer Good Fellows.
