CRITES, Ralph M. – of Clio, Michigan, age 94, died on Sunday, January 26, 2020 at his residence in Clio. A Celebration of Life service will be held at 10:00 AM Monday, February 3, 2020 at the Trinity Assembly of God, Mt. Morris Michigan. Burial to follow in Great Lakes National Cemetery, Holly Michigan. The family will receive visitors at the O’Guinn Family Funeral Home, Montrose, Michigan, Sunday, February 2, 2020, from 12:30-8:00 PM. Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer Association, American Heart Association, and Trinity Missions Program.

Ralph was born July 9, 1925 in Advance. Missouri, to Joseph and Lelah (Simmers) Crites. He grew up and attended school in Advance, Missouri. The family moved to Clio, Michigan when Ralph was around 12 years old. He married Dolores Louise Moore on June 28, 1947 in Clio. She preceded him in death January 25, 2015. He served with the US Army during WWII. Upon returning from military service, Ralph was employed by Buick Motor Division as a skilled trades Pipe Fitter, retiring in 1990 after 44 years of service. Ralph was a hard worker and a skilled craftsman. He enjoyed woodworking and created a number of furniture pieces for hi family including two beautiful grandfather clocks, hope chests, bookcases and numerous tables. Ralph loved being involved with fast pitch softball. After retirement he spent many years as an umpire for local high schools, middle schools, and city leagues. He also managed his church team for many years. He loved deer hunting and took many deer hunting trips to the Michigan Upper Peninsula with family and friends. By the time he reached the young age of 70+ years he had joined efforts with Pastor Otto Wegner to be part of a church planting ministry in both Philadelphia PA. and Newark N.J.. He helped immensely renovating 3 churches, 2 houses and a small apartment building.

He is survived by his children: Ralph (Sandra) Crites of Birch Run, Judy (Gery) Giltinan of Clio, Roy (Debra) Crites of Clio, Ron Crites of Clio; 7 grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren; Sisters: Helen Green of Missouri, Bernice (Walter) Migut of Florida. He was preceded in death by two brothers: Roy, and Walter.
