WHITE, Walter E. Sr. - of Davison, age 93, passed away at his residence on February 22, 2014. A Funeral Service will be held at 11 AM Wednesday, February 26, 2014 at Allen Funeral Home, 9136 Davison Rd. Davison; Pastor Gary Gauthier officiating. Burial, with Military Honors under the auspices of the Davison American Legion #267 will follow in Flint Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4-8 PM Tuesday and 10 – 11 AM Wednesday. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association, Humane Society of Genesee County or the Wounded Warrior Project.
Walter was born in Flint, MI on March 11, 1920, son of the late Harry and Charlotte (Gorbutt) White. He married Margaret VonWedding in October of 1954. They enjoyed 48 years of marriage together before her passing in 2003. Walter was a member of Flint VFW Post #822, Davison American Legion, Grand Blanc Moose Lodge and F.O.E Aerie #629. He proudly served our country in the U.S. Army. Walter retired from Grand Blanc Fisher Body in 1977.
Walter is survived by his children, Linda (Don) Hailey, Walter (Nicole) White, Jr., Daniel White and Cheri (Charles Cordell) Tomlin; 15 grandchildren; numerous great- grandchildren; special friend, Agnes and kitty, Jimmy John. He is preceded in death by his son, John; daughter, Juanita Buys; first wife, Florence Owen; two brothers and one sister. The family would like to thank the staff at Hometown Hospice, especially Sharon, Roxanne, Candy and a special thanks to Dr. Henry Mendoza.
