Age 52, went to his eternal home in Heaven on June 20, 2018.
Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 12 p.m. Thursday, June 28, 2018 at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, 404 North Dayton Street, Davison, Father Andrew Czajkowski officiating.
Burial in Bendle Cemetery.
Visitation 4-8 p.m. Wednesday at the Swartz Funeral Home, 1225 West Hill Road.
A Rosary will be prayed at 7 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
Mr. Barber will be at the church from 11:30 a.m. Thursday until the time of the Mass.
Barrie was born in Flint on April 30, 1966. Barrie graduated from Powers Catholic HS in 1984 and from Eastern Michigan University in 1989. He was an award-winning journalist for the Dayton Daily News where he covered Wright-Patterson Air Force Base and wrote for several other newspapers. Barrie devoted 8.5 years of his life to the U.S. Naval Reserves as a Navy Journalist. He was an adventurist and world traveler and flew as a journalist with the U.S. Navy Blue Angels twice. He was passionate about Naval Aviation. He enjoyed ballroom dancing and listening to Frank Sinatra. Barrie loved hiking, bicycling, exploring Michigan’s Upper Peninsula and photography. The most important things in Barrie’s life were God, family, friends, kindness, integrity of character, social justice, and love for his country.
Surviving are his mother and step-father Barbara (Bobbie) and Ray Snell, father Barrie (Judie) Barber Sr., sister Michele (Carlos) Lambaria, nephews Dominic (Ivana) and Armando Lambaria, grand-nephew Damian, step-siblings Sherry (Jeff) Bradshaw, Joe (Marybeth) Snell, Cindy (Mickey) Darwin, Uncles Matt (Lidia) Krienke and Chauncey (Nancy) Moran, cousin Nicole (Andrew) Moran-LaMay, and many other beloved cousins, aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and friends.
