Clara “Clare” Susan Andrus, Age 84, passed away Monday, May 13, 2024, at Hurley Medical Center. Funeral Services will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, May 18, 2024, at Rossell Funeral Home, 307 E. Main St, Flushing, Michigan. Father Jonathon Perrotta will officiate. Burial will follow at St Robert Catholic Cemetery, Visitation will be 9 to 11 am, Saturday at the funeral home.
In Lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to The Wildlife Fund, or charity of your choice.
Clara was born in Saginaw, Michigan on March 26, 1940, to Ignatius and Mary Wojciechowski. She married William D. Andrus on August 4, 1962. He preceded her in death on May 11, 1982.
Clara attended Western State University and was a Flushing High School English Teacher for over 30 years, retiring in 2005. She was an avid cat lover, breeding and showing her Persian cats throughout the Midwest with sister, Vicki. She treasured her time spent on her property on Lake Michigan in the UP. She was a former member of All Saints Church in Flint.
Clare is survived by her daughter, Ann Marie Andrus; grandchildren, Trey (McKenzie) Tafil, Adrienne (Coleman) Andrus; sister, Victoria Dykema; brother, Tracey Wojciechowski; several nieces and nephews; special friends, David Harshfield, FHS Teachers Group, and Sue Ransom. She was preceded in death by her son, William Andrus II sudden passing in April 2024.
