COGGINS, Ellis E. – of Goodrich, age 90, passed away December 15, 2013 at the Oaks of Woodfield. Cremation has taken place. A Memorial Service will be held 3:00 PM Friday, December 20, 2013 at Allen Funeral Home, 9136 Davison Rd., Davison; Pastor Mark Wentzel officiating. The family will welcome visitors from 1 pm until time of service on Friday. In Lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Diabetes Association.
Ellis was born in Jackson, Co., North Carolina on July 24, 1923, son of the late Alex and Annie (Bennett) Coggins. He married M. Janet Putnam on August 4, 1945 in Toledo, OH. Ellis worked at General Motors, Fisher Body Plant # 1, retiring in 1976 after 30 years of service. Ellis loved the outdoors, farming his 50 acres, caring for his animals and enjoying time with his dogs. He also enjoyed hunting and fishing.
Ellis is survived by his wife, M. Janet Coggins; children, Euwilda (Bryon) Perry, Charlotte (Doug) Horton and Wayne (Debra) Coggins; eight grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; sister, Rose Rogers; many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by two brothers and four sisters. Ellis’ family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the staff of the Oaks for their compassion and support provided to Ellis during his time of need.
