PHILLIPS, Robert Gene – of Flushing, age 76, died Wednesday, August 15, 2018 at McLaren Healthcare. Funeral Service will be held at 1:00 PM Monday, August 20, 2018 at O’Guinn Family Funeral Home in Clio. Pastor Darrel Manning officiating. Burial in Sunset Hills. The family will receive visitors on Monday, August 20, 2018 from 11:00 AM until time of service at 1:00 PM. Memorial contributions can be made to Fellowship Baptist Church.
Robert was born September 15, 1941 in Success, Arkansas to the late Eugene and Zuma McElhany. He grew up in Flint and graduated from Flint Central High School with the class of 1959. On November 12, 1966 he married Dorothy Hoover and she preceded him in death on July 30, 2014. Prior to his retirement in 1988, he worked for GM as a Production Worker for 28 years. Robert was a member of Fellowship Baptist Church in Clio. He also was a member of the Shriner’s and a Mason. Robert enjoyed playing guitar and wood working.
Surviving are: Children, Cindy (Tim) Rose, Terry Yehle, Anita Moquin, Gary Phillips, Brenda (Ron) Ross; 9 Grandchildren; 9 Great-Grandchildren; Sister, Virginia (Bobby) Batey; and several nieces.
