SIMPKINS, Danny R. – Of Flint, age 61, died Wednesday, July 17, 2013 at Genesys Regional Medical Center.
Funeral service will be held at 6 p.m. Saturday, July 20, 2013 at the Swartz Funeral Home, 1225 West Hill Road, Reverend James Harvey officiating.
Cremation will take place following the service.
Those desiring may make contributions to Muscular Dystrophy Association-Flint.
Visitation 11 a.m. Saturday until the time of the service at the funeral home.
Danny was born in Flint, Michigan on October 12, 1951, the son of Donald W. Simpkins and the late Ruby M. (Thomason) and was a resident of Flint.
On September 1, 1983 he married Janet Lee Stilwill in Flint.
He enjoyed golf, bowling, yard work, improving his house and traveling.
Surviving are wife, Jan;
children, Theresa Shaw, Matthew Simpkins and Wesley Simpkins;
father, Donald W. Simpkins;
seven grandchildren, Erica (Jeffrey) Jones, Gabrialle (Joey) Klienow, Robert (Brandi) Shaw, Charles Simpkins, Danny S. Simpkins, Katelynn Simpkins and Aaron Simpkins;
six great-grandchildren, Camron Jones, Lilly Ann and Zander Klienow, Cayden and Kaleb Shaw and Damien;
sisters and brothers, Brenda (Robert) Davis, Donald (Carol) Simpkins, Dennis (Tracy) Simpkins, Sandra (Tim) Reip, Tonya (Gerald) White, Randy Ingram, Darian (Debbie) Simpkins and Roy (Christy) Simpkins;
step-brother and sister, Roger and Brenda Davis.
He was preceded in death by mother; sister and brothers, Vicky Simpkins, Stephen Simpkins, Mark Simpkins and Mitchell Simpkins; great-grandchild, Ryan Lee.
