Schramski, Walter John — of Davison, age 69, died Friday, August 17, 2018 after a brave battle with cancer. He fought for every minute he could spend with his family, determined to spend his 49th wedding anniversary on August 16th with the love of his life, Linda. His bride was at his side, along with his family, as he passed away under hospice care at Beaumont Hospital in Royal Oak. Their love story began when he spotted a dark haired beauty driving a tractor…he would tell us her tan was as golden as the wheat field. It would end with them still holding hands as they walked into every treatment, test and appointment the same way they did everything in life - together. Walter stood up to cancer the same way he lived his life, always on the right side, strong in character and faith. So much of that strength came from his upbringing. He was born December 2, 1948, the second of seven boys and one girl raised on a dairy farm in Kinde by the late John and Helen (Fisher) Schramski. Not only did that instill a relentless work ethic, but a competitive drive for sports born between brothers who shot baskets non-stop and created WWF wrestling rings in the hay mound. Walt would leave the farm and move downstate with friends to become a toolmaker. That journey would take him from Chrysler to General Motors in Grand Blanc -where he would work until he retired. There, he built lifelong friendships and was one of the few but proud Spartan fans in a sea of Wolverines. Walt took great pride in his two daughters’ professional careers, Angie (Hendershot) the news anchor and Annette (Aquino) the doctor. After years of raising two girls, he was thrilled to have a son-in-law and grateful Angie’s husband, Steve, shared his love of fishing and sports. Walt was blessed with more boys when his two grandsons, Fischer John Walter and Holden (Hendershot), were born, then his granddaughter, Coco (Aquino) added a whole new sparkle to his life. “JaJa” loved spending time with his grandchildren, teaching them to golf, fish, paint and build whatever they dreamed up in his workshop. He never missed the boys baseball, basketball or football games and was a proud and loud member of the Raider family. Walt is survived by his wife, Linda (Tschirhart); daughters Angie (Steve) Hendershot and Annette Aquino; grandchildren Fischer John Walter Hendershot, Holden Hendershot and Coco Aquino; brothers Edward Schramski, Fred (Doreen) Schramski, Jim (Valerie) Schramski, David (Janice) Schramski, Paul (Lorrie) Schramski, John (Jean) Schramski and sister Ann (Tom) Smith; along with many loved nieces and nephews, extended family members and cherished friends. A memorial service will be held at 4PM Monday, August 20, 2018 at Allen Funeral Home, 9136 Davison Road, Davison, MI 48423; Rev. Fr. Andrew A. Czajkowski officiating. Visitation will be from 1 PM until the time of the service on Monday. Please share your thoughts with the family at www.allenfuneralhomeinc.com.
