BURGESS, Eric D. – of Burton, age 50, passed away March 10, 2016 at Hurley Medical Center. A Funeral Service will be held 11 AM Monday, March 14, 2016 at Allen Funeral Home, 9136 Davison Rd., Davison; Fr. Gabriel Bilas officiating. Burial will be in Crestwood Cemetery. Visitation will be 2:30-7 PM Sunday and 10-11 AM Monday. A Trisagion Service will be held 7 PM Sunday. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Humane Society of Genesee County or the Wounded Warrior Project.
Eric was born in Flint, MI on January 2, 1966, son of the late Duane and Mary Ann (Lord) Burgess. He was a member of Saint Mary Magdalene Orthodox Church. Eric proudly served his country in the U.S. Army and was a security guard for 18 years. He was very proud of being a nursing assistant at Hurley Hospital. He was a member of the Davison Chapter of the International Brotherhood of Magicians. Eric loved drawing, poetry, books and his adopted cat, Zoomer. He studied martial arts and collected swords.
Eric is survived by his sister, Becky Burgess; brother, Chris Burgess; godsons, Logan and Lucas; dear friends, Tony (Michele) Perro, John Metzger; cat, Zoomer; many cousins and extended family.
