Beloved husband, father and grandfather passed away on Thursday, May 9, 2019 at Gratiot Community Hospital. Age 76 years. The son of the late Walter and Esther (Schewe) Luebkert, John was born November 16, 1942 in Saginaw, Michigan. He earned his Associates Degree at Delta College, his Bachelor of Science and his Master’s in Business Administration from Central Michigan University. He was previously married to Royale (Yingling) Pugh. John later married Lynda Dawson on April 2, 1994. She survives him. John was employed as a teacher at Hemlock Public School from 1967-2005 where he was active in the Vocational Business Competitions, BPA-BOEC. He also taught driver’s training for the Saginaw School District and worked for the C&O Railroad. He was a member of Peace Lutheran Church where he served as an usher. John was an avid Detroit Tiger fan and loved spending time with his family and friends.

Surviving besides his wife Lynda are two sons, Michael Luebkert; Ryan Luebkert; five grandchildren, Matthew, Luke, Nicklaus, William and Maddie; a step-son, Andy and Lynsey Lockwood; two step-grandchildren, Chase and Addisyn; a brother, Paul and Connie Luebkert; a brother-in-law, Dennis and Fang Dawson; several nieces and nephews; beloved pet, Ivan.

Funeral service will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, May14, 2019 at Peace Lutheran Church, 3427 Adams Blvd. Rev. Matthew Hauser will officiate with private entombment in Roselawn Memorial Mausoleum. Friends may call at the church where the family will be present on Tuesday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service. In lieu of flowers, those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider memorials to Peace Lutheran Church or Covenant Medical Center Cancer Unit. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to The Snow Funeral Home, 3775 N. Center Rd.
