McDONALD, Delbert Chase, - of Grand Prairie, TX, formerly of Otisville, MI, age 80, took his last breath on Sunday, June 24, 2018. A Funeral Service will be held 11 AM Saturday, June 30, 2018 at Atherton United Methodist Church, 4010 Lippincott Blvd., Burton, MI 48519; Rev. Bruce L. Billing officiating. Burial, with Military Honors, will be held 3 PM Saturday, June 30, 2018 at Flint Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will receive visitors 4-8 PM Thursday, June 28, 2018 and 11 AM-8 PM Friday, June 29, 2018 at Allen Funeral Home, 9136 Davison Road, Davison, MI 48423 and 10-11 AM Saturday, June 30, 2018 at Atherton United Methodist Church. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Atherton United Methodist Church.
Delbert was born in Flint, MI on September 6, 1937, son of the late Clyde and Lilah (Chase) McDonald. He married Joyce Marie LaRose at Asbury Church in Flint on October 26, 1957 and she preceded him in death on November 10, 2008. Delbert proudly served his country in the U.S. Army from 1957-1959. He was a member of Atherton United Methodist Church of Burton, MI. Anyone who knew or even met Delbert loved his sense of humor. He was constantly laughing and joking. He lived most of his life in Michigan, moved to Florida, and then spent his remaining time in Texas. The family just wanted to let everyone know that Delbert is at peace. He is very loved and will be missed by all.
Delbert is survived by 2 daughters, Sharon (Douglas) Strauel, Amy (Thomas) Charron; 8 grandchildren, Jennifer, Joshua (Karen), Justin (Nicole) Strauel and Collin, Emily, Dylan, Duncan, Payton Charron; 7 great-grandchildren, Ethan, Seth, Bryauna, Brady Rose, Blayke Spring, Elisabeth AnneMarie and Fitzwilliam Strauel; brother, Alan McDonald; many other loving family members and friends. He was preceded in death by his son, Brian Keith McDonald and multiple siblings.
