Wayne "Pappy" Arthur Reid, 91, of Lennon, passed away on Saturday, August 31, 2019 at Hospice House of Shiawassee County. Funeral service will be held on Wednesday, September 4, 2019 at 1:00pm at Watkins Brothers Funeral Homes, Durand Chapel. Pastor Dana Beland will officiate, with burial to follow in Yerian Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Tuesday, September 3, 2019 from 4:00pm-8:00pm.
Wayne was born in Venice Township on January 20, 1928 to the late Foster J. and Mary Jane (Burton) Reid. On September 1, 1946 he married Genevieve Mildred Rainey. Wayne spent his life as a truck driver, he hauled steel early in his career and then gravel. He loved NASCAR Racing, and being social at the Lennon Café. He loved his family and any time that he could spend with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Wayne is survived by his children; Eugenia Keesler, Duane Reid, Carol (Lonnie) Axtell, and Katherine Francis, also his 11 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.
He was predeceased by his wife of 72 years Genevieve on November 2, 2018, his sons; Michael, Rick, and Jeffery. His sister, Ellen Atkinson, and his brother, George Reid.
