LYON, Jerry S. – of Flint, age 85, passed away June 20, 2018 at his residence surrounded by his loving family. A Funeral Mass, with Military Honors, will be celebrated 11 AM Saturday, June 23, 2018 at Holy Rosary Catholic Church, G-5199 Richfield Rd., Flint; Rev. Fr. Roy Horning celebrant. Burial will be in St. Paul Catholic Cemetery, Owosso. Visitation will be from 10 AM until the time of the Mass on Saturday. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Holy Rosary Catholic Church.
Jerry was born in Onaway, MI on May 17, 1933, son of the late Sumner and Aza (Collision) Lyon. He honorably served our country in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War and received the National Defense Service Medal and Korean Service Medal. Jerry married Mary Ellen McCarthy on June 20, 1959 and she preceded him in death on April 4, 2018. He shared his passion for hunting and fishing with his family and friends.
Jerry is survived by his children, Geraldine Bates, Edward (Kristina) Lyon, James (Cheri) Lyon, Mary Zinn (John Perez), Maureen (Mark) Bollwitt and Brad Lyon (Tammie Hickmott); grandchildren, Jason (Amber) Lyon, Melady (Rick) Like, Nicholas Lyon, Tyler Lyon, Shelbie Lyon, Soraya Lyon, Blake Lyon, Halayna Bollwitt, Quinlan Bollwitt; six great-grandchildren; sister, Beverly Clark; brothers, Stuart Lyon and Charles Lyon. He was preceded in death by Baby Girl Lyon.
