SCHMIDT, John William -- Age 78, of Burton, died July 8, 2018. Funeral services will be held 2 PM Thursday July 12 at World Outreach Center, 2275 Irish Rd., Davison. Burial 10:30 AM Friday, July 13 at Great Lakes National Cemetery, Holly. Visitation will be held 2-4 PM and 5-8 PM Wednesday at Sharp Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 6063 Fenton Rd., Flint. Visitation will also be held 1 PM Thursday until time of service at the church. Those desiring may make contributions to the World Outreach Center.
John was born March 3, 1940 in Bay City the son of Roy and Alta (Wynne) Schmidt. He resided most of his life in Flint and Burton. He was a Veteran of the U.S. Navy serving in the Cuban Conflict. John married Sharon J. Hoag October 9, 1970 in Flint. He was a supervisor at AC Spark Plug retiring after 28 years of service. He was a lifetime member of Demolay, and was an Eagle Scout with Tall Pines Council.
He is survived by his wife, Sharon; children, Paul (Amy) English of Il, David Hoag of Swartz Creek, Ann (Miguel) Escamilla of Oxford, Mark Schmidt of Flint, Kelly (Harold) Nau of Millington; 18 grandchildren and many great grand children; sister, Bev Walker of Bay City.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Dick; sisters, Sue and Carol; daughter in law, Sherri Hoag and grandson, Zachary Hoag. Tributes may be shared at www.sharpfuneralhomes.com |
