CALL, Elwyn Lyle- Age 98, of Swartz Creek. Died September 16, 2016. A celebration of life service will be held 11 AM Thursday September 22 at Sharp Funeral Homes Miller Road Chapel, 8138 Miller Rd., Swartz Creek. The family will receive friends from 10 AM until the time of service at the funeral home. Those desiring may make contributions to the American Cancer Society or the Swartz Creek Community Food Basket c/o Swartz Creek United Methodist Church.
Elwyn was born September 5, 1918 in Flint, the son of Adrian and Ruby Call. He was a graduate of Flint Central High School. He married Betty M. Gorton in Flint on November 18, 1939. She preceded him in death on October 25, 1994. He worked as a Journeyman Tool Grinder and retired from AC Spark Plug in 1974 after 38 years of service. Elwyn was a very active member of Bristol United Methodist Church and was a member of the Flint River Valley Steelheader's Association. He enjoyed collecting sea shells, making mirrors, woodworking, tennis, basketball, and card games of many kinds. He especially enjoyed going to the family cabins at Canada Creek Ranch in Atlanta, MI.
He is survived by his son, Thomas Elwyn (Mary Ann) Call; daughter, Susan Betty (Folke) Boman; grandchildren, Brent Call, Bruce Call, Kristen (Jeffrey) Owen; great grandchildren, Derek, Gretchen, Aaron, Layne, and Sylvia; great great grandson, TY.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Betty; siblings, David, Vivian ,and Aubrey.
The family would like to thank all the people at Sugarbush House for the care and concern they showed Elwyn during his time there.
