CHOATE, Richard C. “Dick”- of New Lothrop, age 74, died Sunday, February 24, 2013 at his residence. Friends may come to the O’Guinn Family Funeral Home in Montrose from 1-8PM on Wednesday, February 27, 2013. Cremation to follow. Burial in Great Lakes National Cemetery with military honors.
Richard was born January 15, 1939 in Flint to the late Calvin and Geraldine (Berg) Choate. He was a corporal for the US Marine Corps and was awarded good conduct, marksmanship and lifeguard medals. Dick married Ann Wimer on February 2, 1959 in Corcoran, CA. He retired in 1999 from GM Buick city after 30 years of service, and was a member of UAW Local 599. Dick enjoyed shooting, hunting, restoring old cars and spending time with his family.
Surviving are: wife, Ann; children, Liz (Don) Briggs if Clio, Calvin Choate of Grand Rapids, Kim Choate of New Lothrop; 2 grandchildren, Ricky Coxon, J’Lin Donald; 4 great-grandchildren; siblings, Tom (Sandy) Choate of Chase, Margaret (Brian) Taylor of Clio.
