PETRIDES, John A. - Of Grand Blanc, age 91, died Wednesday, March 1, 2017 at American House in Grand Blanc.
Funeral Mass will be celebrated 10:30am Monday, March 6, 2017 at Holy Family Catholic Church, 11824 South Saginaw, Grand Blanc,
Monsignor Jerry Vincke officiating.
Burial in New Calvary Catholic Cemetery.
Visitation 1-4pm and 6-8pm Sunday at the Swartz Funeral Home, 1225 West Hill Road, Flint. A Vigil Service will be held 7pm Sunday evening at the funeral home. John will be at the church 9:30am Monday until the time of the Mass.
John was born in Sturgis, Michigan on October 17, 1925 the son of the late Phillip and Stella Petrides. He was a proud World War II Navy Veteran serving in the Pacific. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus Council #695. He married Elsie Jaksa on October 7, 1950 and she preceded him in death on November 30, 2006. He was a member of Holy Redeemer Catholic Church for over 60 years and recently joined Holy Family Catholic Church. John loved to dance, golf, drink beer, deer hunt, play poker and euchre and many other pursuits in no particular order. While in his 80’s, he attended Jeep Jamborees and volunteered to visit WWII Vets in hospice keeping them company and playing cribbage with a few.
Surviving are 3 children, Randy and wife Elizabeth and Chris and Steve and wife Candice;
8 grandchildren;
brother, Bill and sister Katherine Coons;
many nieces, nephews and special lady friend, Pat, from American House Grand Blanc.
He was preceded in death by his brother, Leo.
Many thanks to (he was well cared for by) the nurses and caregivers at Regency Grand Blanc and the staff and many friends at American House Grand Blanc.
