BURKE (HADDEN), Shirley M. – Of Flint, age 83, died Wednesday, August 31, 2016 at Brookdale Memory Care.
Funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, September 2, 2016 at the Swartz Funeral Home, 1225 West Hill Road, Reverend Harold K. Polk, Jr. officiating.
Burial in Flint Memorial Park.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Alzheimer’s Association or Brookdale of Grand Blanc.
Visitation 1-8 p.m. Thursday and 10 a.m. Friday until the time of the service at the funeral home.
Shirley was born in Flint, Michigan on May 30, 1933, the daughter of the late DeFay and Rosetta (Robbins) Hadden.
On June 18, 1955 she married Dale Burke and he preceded her in death on August 20, 2007.
She was a member of Calvary Presbyterian Church. She enjoyed gardening, baking, singing and spending time with her grandchildren.
Mrs. Burke retired from Pepsi Cola, after 25 years of service.
Surviving are three children, Dalene and husband Gerry McClelland of Flint,
Sherry and husband Tom Hayes of Grand Blanc,
Greg and wife Missy of Flint;
grandchildren, Eric and wife Julie McClelland of Clio,
Andy Hayes of Swartz Creek,
Jill and husband Zac Moon of Grand Blanc,
Melanie Hayes,
Ethan Burke and Hannah Burke, all of Flint;
two great-grandchildren, Wyatt McClelland and Owen McClelland of Clio;
sister, Anna Craine of Ypsilanti;
several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her brothers, Charles, Howard, Raymond, Ralph, Stanley and Robert; sister, Phyllis Vock.
