Dear, Robert Elmer of Flint, formerly of Flushing, age 93, died Friday, May 3, 2024, at his home. A memorial service will be held at a later date. If desired, memorial contributions may be made to the Humane Society of Genesee County.
Robert was born in Flint, Michigan on May 29, 1930, the son of Loren and Emily (LaBean) Dear. He married Marjorie Smeage on October 13, 1951, at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church in Flint. He served in the U.S. Army from 1951-1953, during the Korean War. Robert worked for 47 years as a Skilled Tradesmen at Buick. Together with his wife, they loved to travel. They enjoyed camping, boating, going on cruises and had several RV’s and motorhomes throughout the years and were able to travel to all 50 states. They were faithful members of St. Robert Catholic Church for over 50 years. Robert enjoyed visiting casinos, hunting, fishing, and tending to his garden.
Robert is survived by his wife of 72 years, Marjorie; three sons, Michael and wife Cynthia Dear, Paul and wife Amma Dear, Joseph and wife Cynthia Dear; grandchildren, Michael, II, Amy, Nicole, Hannah, McKayla, Jacob; great-grandchildren, Megan, Mason; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, John Dear; and sister, Shirley Kerouac.
