CHAMBERS, Joan Marie (Murphy) – Of Flint, age 79, died Sunday, April 28, 2013 at her residence. Funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, May 4, 2013 at the Swartz Funeral Home, 1225 West Hill Road, Reverend Harold K. Polk, Jr. officiating. Burial in Crestwood Cemetery. Visitation 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Thursday and Friday and 10 a.m. until the time of the service at the funeral home. Those desiring may make contributions to the family. Joan was born in Mt. Morris, Michigan on May 11, 1933, the daughter of James and Jesse (Salisbury) Murphy, and was a resident of Flint most of her life. On June 23, 1951 she married Leslie L. Chambers Jr. in Mt. Morris. She was a loving and dedicated wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and aunt. Her family was her whole life, they came first. Surviving are children, Ruth Brodie of Flint, Theresa Fox of Newberry, Linda (Rick) Schnittker of Vassar, Steven Chambers of Newberry, Tom (Sue) Chambers of Newberry and Deborah Chambers of Mt. Morris; grandchildren, Fred Brodie III and fiancée Cassi DeGood of Owosso, Jess Brodie and partner, Joseph Waldrop of Flint, Corporal Alex Brodie, USMC of North Carolina and girlfriend, Tawnee Kotarski of Oregon, Stacey Fox of Mt. Morris, Brandon (Kristi) Fox of Newberry, Kelsey Fox of Newberry, Jonathon (Heather) Schnittker of Caro, Jason (Amanda) Schnittker of Millington, Zachary Price of Flint and Leslie Whalen of Mt. Morris; great-grandchildren, Alice Nash-Schnittker of Caro, Kylee Hager, Edley “Buddy” Lattimore, Kailyne Fox, Destyni Fox, Noah Fox and Gavin Lee Schnittker; two sisters, Florence Kern and Margaret (Paul) Pipoly of Brighton; ex-son-in-law, Fred Brodie II; nieces, nephews and her dog, Phoebe.
