POUNDERS Betty Joyce - Age 82, of Grand Blanc, died Thursday May 21st, 2015. Funeral services will be held 2PM Sunday, May 24th, 2015 at Sharp Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 6063 Fenton Road, Flint. Pastor Jerome Taylor officiating. Burial will be at Shady Grove Cemetery, Phil Campbell, AL at a later date. Visitation will be held 4PM - 9PM Saturday and again 12PM until time of service at the funeral home Sunday. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the America Alzheimer's Association.
Betty was born in Alabama on January 27, 1933. The daughter of the late Alvin and Nisey (Lowery) Nix. Betty married Arthur B. Pounders in Mississippi on May 9th, 1951. He preceded her in death in 1988. Mrs. Pounders enjoyed spending time with her family, shopping and loved to cook. She was well known for her fried chicken. She cherished being a devoted member of Eastgate Baptist Church for many years. Betty retired from AC Spark Plug with 10 years of service. Surviving are: children, Darrell Pounders of Gross Point Woods, MI, Pamela (Matthew) Glover of Burton, Joel Pounders of Grand Rapids; grandchildren, Sean, Courtney, Joshua, Lindsay, Logan, Nathan, Sagen, Steffen, Kate Lynn, Hannah; great grandchildren, Carter, Lily Joyce and Sophia; brother, Charles (Elmo) Nix of AL, Harold (Bonnie) Nix of AL, Hershel (Betty) Nix of Gladwin, MI. She was also preceded in death by her beloved daughter Regina Chaffee and sister Evelyn Frady. Online condolences may be posted on the obituaries page of www.sharpfuneralhomes.com
