DeCaire, Charles L. – of Clio, age 71, died Thursday, August 9, 2012 after a courageous battle with lung cancer. Mass of Christian Burial will be 11 AM Monday, August 13, 2012 at Saints Charles and Helena Catholic Church in Clio. Fr. Bob McGraw and Fr. Gerald Ploof con-celebrating. Friends may call at the O'Guinn Family Funeral Home in Clio on Saturday from 7-9 PM and Sunday from 1-9 PM where a vigil service will be held at 7 PM. On Tuesday, he will lie in state at St. Anne's Catholic Church in Alpena from 10 AM – 12 noon with burial following at Holy Cross Cemetery in Alpena. Memorials may be made to Saints Charles & Helena Catholic Church (Clio), St. Anne's Catholic Church (Alpena) or NEW Life Center (Flint) or charity of choice.
Charlie was born in Alpena, MI to Leonard and Florence (Kennedy) DeCaire on December 14, 1940. He graduated from Alpena Catholic Central High School in 1959 and excelled in sports. He married Judy Badder, his high school sweetheart, on January 12, 1963 at St. Bernard's Catholic Church in Alpena. He worked at GM Buick Motor Division for 34 years retiring in 2000. He was a member of Saints Charles & Helena Catholic Church in Clio where he served as an Usher and helped with funeral luncheons and the Septemberfest. He was also a member of the UAW Local #599. Charlie loved sports, especially Notre Dame and University of Michigan football. He was happiest when helping others. He enjoyed cooking and working in his yard and feeding the birds. He never met a stranger and will be missed by many special friends.
He is survived by: wife Judy; siblings, Jack (Joy) DeCaire, Elaine Richard, Sally (Alvin) Kelly, Thomas (Bernie) DeCaire, Donald (Kay) DeCaire, Marie Roznowski, Rosemary (John) Jackowiak, Patrick (Jo) DeCaire, Suzanne (Fred) Romanak, Michael DeCaire, Joseph (Barb) DeCaire, Janet (John) Pokorney, sister-in-law Barb DeCaire, brother-in-law Joseph Roznowski, and sister-in-law Anne (Badder) and husband William Deller. He also leaves behind many nieces and nephews, special God-Children and "adopted" kids that he loved and enjoyed following their sporting events, dances and special activities. He was preceded in death by: his parents, brothers Gerald and James, sister-in-law Janet, brother-in-law Robert Richard, nephews Leonard Jackowiak , David DeCaire and William Jon Deller and his mother and father-in-law Veronica and Clayton Badder.
