BOURQUE, Joseph Roger Jean-Noel “John” - Of Flint, age 94, died Saturday, July 15, 2017 at his residence.
Visitation 3-8pm Tuesday at the Swartz Funeral Home, 1225 West Hill Road, Flint. A Rosary will be prayed 7pm Tuesday evening at the funeral home. Visitation 10am Wednesday at church until the time of the Mass.
Funeral Mass will be celebrated 11am Wednesday, July 19, 2017 at St. John Vianney Catholic Church, 2415 Bagley Street, Flint,
Father Thomas Firestone and Father Douglas Osborn con-celebrating.
Burial in New Calvary Catholic Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to St. John Vianney Catholic Church, North End Soup Kitchen or McLaren Hospice.
Joseph was born in Shawinigan Falls, Quebec, Canada on December 25, 1922. He married Esther Julia Bouvet in St. Gregoire, Quebec Canada on August 29, 1953. Mr. Bourque started to work on the C.N.R. Railroad in 1943. He then learned telegraph and went to work for G.T.W. Railroad in October 1949. He worked as a telegraph operator until 1975 and retired, as a clerk, on December 31, 1982 after 33 years of service.
He leaves to cherish his memory his wife, Esther;
3 children, Alice and husband Brian FitzGerald,
Julie Anne Bourque,
Paul and wife Susanne;
daughter-in-law, Teresa Bourque;
10 grandchildren;
2 sisters-in-law;
4 brothers-in-law;
3 nephews.
He was preceded in death by his son, Denis; his parents; grandson, Aidan; 3 sisters and 1 brother.
